In the Garden (Minibeasts)

In the Garden - Minibeasts

This half term we are learning all about minibeasts. In Science we are learning about all the creatures that we can find in a garden, park or any other green space. We will go on a bug hunt and see where we can find different minibeasts. We will then have a go at making a 'Bug Hotel' and observe which minibeasts are attracted to our 'Bug Hotel'.

In Art we are learning about animal sculptures and printing. We will be focussing on the artists Edouard Martinet and Henri Matisse. We will explore their artwork and discuss what we like and dislike about it.

This half term in History we will be looking at significant people from the past and in particular we will be focussing on David Attenborough and Mary Anning. We will explore the similarities and differences between their lives and our own. We will use photos, stories and videos to ask and answer questions about what these sources from the past tell us.

Our core texts for this half term include The Ugly Bug by Liz Pichon and The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle.
