What is a School Council?
A School Council is a group of pupils who are elected to represent the views of all children to improve their school. In Key Stage 1 annual voting takes place for children who have expressed an interest to be elected to the School Council.
What do we do?
The class councillors meet as a whole School Council at least once every half term.
Children and staff will bring their views and suggestions to discuss as part of the agenda for each meeting. With the support of Mrs Weate, the children in our School Council share the views of their class, carry out fundraising activities and become involved in making school decisions.
At World’s End we have an awareness of UN Conventions on the rights of the child (UNCRC) and are aiming to be a Rights Respecting School. With this in mind the rights that we will be learning in our school work closely with the work that is celebrated and carried out by the School Council.
Mrs James worked with The School Council in creating our aims in a mission statement. ‘Every voice is heard!’
