Welcome to our Induction page for new families!

We are delighted that you are thinking joining the World's End Infant and Nursery family in September 2026 and we would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome.

We are really looking forward to working in partnership with you to ensure that your child has the best possible start to their primary education. As a school, we work closely with parents, families and the local community to provide an exciting curriculum so that our children can be the best that they can be, live life to the full and play a genuinely transformative role in society

We believe the induction of a new child to our family is important, and crucial to ensuring their future success. At World's End Infant and Nursery, we do everything we can to ensure our families are fully informed about the journey ahead; the curriculum that will be taught, the approach to teaching across the Early Years Foundation Stage, as well as the practical arrangements of starting school.

Hello everyone!

Everyone at World's End can not wait to welcome you into our 'World's End' family.

Hello! My name is Ms Jones and I am the Headteacher here at World’s End Infant and Nursery School. A big part of my job is to make sure, with all of the teachers’ help, that all children feel happy and safe while at school. I am looking forward to meeting you and your family as you start your learning journey. I will work with the wonderful team that we have to make sure that your journey is fun and that you always feel able to ‘reach for those stars!’

General Frequently Asked Questions

What time does school start and finish?

The Reception entrance into school opens at 8:40am and closes at 8:50am. School finishes at 3:10pm. At the end of the day the children will be brought out onto the front playground and will be handed over to you – please be patient with us as we get to know your faces.

On the first day of school staff will be positioned to show you and your child where to go, so don’t worry about getting lost.

What does my child need to bring on their first day of school?

• A labelled drinks bottle, filled with water.
• A labelled book bag; we send lots of letters and useful information home, so this just helps ensure it makes its way to you.
• A big smile!

Your child does not need to bring in a pencil case, books etc. These will all be provided.

What does school uniform/PE kit look like and where can I purchase it?

This can be viewed on our website, under the Parents tab, where you can also find links to stockists.

Please send PE kits in a small draw string bag, these will be kept at school and sent home every half term. Again, please ensure EVERYTHING is labelled.

Does my child need to bring in any outdoor/spare clothes?

School will provide outdoor clothes; however we do ask for wellies to be provided for outdoor learning, please ensure these are labelled with your child’s name. It is also a good idea to send in spare underwear and a change of clothes, especially during the settling in period.

How much do school dinners cost?

From September 2014, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in schools in England are entitled to have a free school meal. A menu can be found on the school website.

Will my child receive homework?

We will issue homework once we feel the children have settled into school, this is usually after the first half term. It will consist of short activities focused on phonics, keywords and a reading book.

Where can I find out information on school life and my child’s learning?

At World’s End we try to keep parents as informed as possible using a range of different means. For example:
• Tapestry
• Monthly school newsletters
• School website and individual class pages
• At the end of the school day your child’s class teacher is always on hand to assist you with any queries

Who do I contact if I am concerned about my child’s development?

As always your child’s class teacher will be more than happy to discuss any concerns.

However you may wish to phone to speak to our Special Education Needs and Disability coordinator who can offer more specialist advice.
