In the Early Years, we believe that each area is as important as each other and inextricably linked. Whilst literacy and mathematics are important, the skills required to succeed in these subjects cannot be fully achieved if the other areas are ignored. This is why play forms an important part of our curriculum so that children can develop their confidence and ability to talk and socialise with their peers.
Making links with home
Tapestry
During the week, Reception staff take ‘in the moment’ pictures and record pupil observations on Tapestry, an online tool for teachers. These observations are used by teaching staff to inform their judgements at the end of each term. They are also used to create an online journal which can be accessed by parents from home. Journals are updated at the end of each half term and parents are notified by e-mail.
If your child attended our Nursery then you Tapestry account will continue into Reception. If your child is new to our school then you should have received a form to complete to provide us with the information we require to create your child's Tapestry account; if this is not the case then please get in touch.
