Supporting spelling at home
The children are required to spell words from memory. These are split into sets just like the keywords for reading.
After spelling set 1 and 2, your child will receive the 'Reaching for the Stars' certificate. After spelling set 3, 4 and 5, your child will receive the 'Spelling Star' certificate. When your child has learnt to spell all of the words, they will begin to receive extension spellings to learn at home. These will contain some words related to the topic the children are learning about that particular half term, as well as some phonetically decodable words.
Supporting your child to learn their spellings will really make a difference and help them in all areas of the school curriculum.
