Autumn term 1 Amazing Me

Welcome to Reception

Starting 'big school'  can be daunting for you and your child, but it marks the start of an exciting new chapter and is the first big step in your child's education.  Before you know it, your child will be making friends, learning new skills, and becoming increasingly independent.

Starting school is one of the biggest milestones a child will go through in their lives and it can seem like a daunting prospect for parents and children alike and can cause stress and worry. This is especially true this year as the children will have had a lot of disruption to their lives over the past 2 years. The coronavirus pandemic will have impacted children in many ways.

As a result of this, our focus this half term is building relationships, trust and confidence. As educators academic achievement is important to us, however without addressing what we have all been through we will not be able to move forward in the long term. If children are suffering from anxiety about starting or returning to school, they will not be in the correct emotional state to retain learning. That is why we are focusing on the recovery curriculum over the coming weeks and months to ensure that the children settle back to school life. A recovery curriculum is a kind and sensitive approach to welcoming children back into school which is delivered with sensitivity, care, thought and above all a huge sense of fun and enjoyment. We will be:

  • Supporting metal health and wellbeing
  • Identifying gaps in learning
  • Prioritising the curriculum

We will be doing all of this in our usual 'Worlds End' way with exciting topics and activities which are engaging, relevant, imaginative and will inspire your child to lean and achieve their full potential.   Click on the links below to find out all about our exciting topic for this half term.  The information that was shared during our  'Meet the teacher'  mornings is also included.
