'Where the wild things are'

This half term our topic is related to the story of 'Where the Wild things are' by Maurice Sendak.  In science we will be focusing on Living things and their habitats.  We will be finding out about real life 'wild things' who live in natural habitats such as rainforests, deserts, woodlands and oceans.  We will be learning about how these animals are suited to these habitats and how they survive.  During this topic we are planning on visiting a place called 'All Things Wild' to hopefully see lots of the these wonderful creatures.

In the story, Max goes on an adventure and makes a journey to a magical island so in our geography we will making some journeys of our own and then looking how we represent these places in maps.  In our art,  we are exploring the work of artists such as Maurice Sendak and James DeRosso and creating artwork using different medias such as clay.  Let's hope if the wild things ever come to our classrooms they are gentle and easily tamed just like the ones in the story!
